I have long been interested in Arabic science and philosophy, and found this book to be well-written, engaging and balanced look at a magnificent era.

Scientists, like historians, are not categorically exempt from misperceptions, error, biases, and even ax-grinding.

Interesting description of Arab science
Many of us were taught that the origins of science were in Ancient Greece but that the Western World fell into the \"Dark Ages\" where science was lost and no progress was made.

According to this author, many of the most important Western innovations were the result of Arabic scholars during the middle ages.
