Book offers powerful view of civil rights movement

Terrific look at the civil rights movement of the early 1960s through the eyes of many of the key players -- both heroes and villains -- who were in and out of Birmingham, Alabama during that dramatic time.

An amazing undertaking!

I actually knew Diane McWhorter as she and I grew up in the same suburb and attended the same school and the JCC in Birmingham, Alabama in the 60's.

Good book, except for Kindle version

I was 120 or so pages into this fascinating and weighty tome when I decided it was time to get a Kindle so I could read it more easily, and return the hard copy to the friend from whom I'd borrowed it.

The Church Bomb story is not yet complete.

Finally deciding to read about the Civil Rights Movement of long ago,I purchased four books for Amazon.

Comprehensive and Detailed but Deeply Moving

Last fall, I had two hours to spare in the city of Birmingham.

Rivetting historical writing

"Bring Me Home" is electrifying and reads like a murder mystery, which in fact it is.

Slow Read but a Good Read

This is not a quick read on this terrible subject.
